2010ballssmall Start off the New Year with a Career Review.

Take a look at where you have been and done in your career during the last year.

Some areas to review, assess and update would be:

Salary: Were you given your regular reviews did your review result in increased  salary or responsibilities?

Where is your current salary relative to expected salaries for your industry and years of experience, and is there room for  growth?

Current job description: Are your job duties similar to what you were doing last year. Have you been given additional responsibility more projects staff etc?

Accomplishments: What were your achievements in the last year?

Stability: Is your position still stable or less so? If you are or were seeking a new position would you be on the same career path?

Finally and most revealing do you need to update your resume?

If you have moved to a company or position you may need to add this information to your old resume. Remember to update the achievement area of your resume too. Simply add the new position or projects at your present company as the first few lines in your experience at your current company.

If you have moved on to a new company make this information as the first listing in your experience.
Update your skills, technology, professional training, telephone, and email if needed.

Save your new resume add 2009 to the name to make it easy to find, also email the finished resume to yourself as an attachment, save it in a folder called resume.

If you use webmail then your resume is always at hand, you would also do well to keep a couple printed copies at hand. Just in case your hard drive crashes and you have not backed up!
