Direct management of Core Laboratory employees on the second and some third shifts. Operations Supervisor will ensure that the service commitments provided to the hospital and to customers by the Core Laboratory are met in as productive and cost efficient manner as possible. Position will create and implement long term strategies.
The majority of outpatient outreach and non-emergent clinical work is performed on these shifts the incumbent must routinely set priorities and allocate resources in order to meet turnaround times for the core laboratory.
Manage workflow including those areas not directly managed (such as couriers specimen processing phlebotomy) will be required. Coordinate activities across multiple departments requires excellent communication skills as well as comfort with matrix management.
Required: - Minimum of 5 years progressive laboratory management experience in a large acute care laboratory or commercial laboratory. - Demonstrated knowledge of workflow and operational processes between technical and non-technical laboratory functions. - Demonstrated ability to achieve operational improvements leading to turnaround time improvement and margin enhancement. - Ability to identify root causes for operational variances and service failures. - Demonstrated ability to resolve service failures and improve productivity. - Demonstrated ability to work with disparate groups with competing priorities. - Demonstrated ability in envisioning and implementing long term strategies. - Proven track record in integrating state of the art automation and equipment to meet long-term laboratory strategies.
• EDUCATION: Bachelors degree in medical technology or similar lab field
