Provide instrument designs support for routine daily operation of process units. Prepare instrumentation work scopes cost estimates schedules material specs sketches construction work packages and other required documentation. - Troubleshoot instrumentation problems and issues develop alternatives and propose and implement solutions for long term reliability. - Answer technical inquiries make technical recommendations improve design tools and develop design procedures and provide training. - Carry out studies to improve plant safety reliability and economics. - Provide design analysis and evaluation of instrumentation portion of major capital projects. - Manage design and execute instrument-related capital projects. - Document and manage information related to instrumentation systems and equipment. - Ensure all work is preformed in accordance with applicable Environmental Health Safety and Building codes as required by Federal State Local and regulations. - Some travel may be required for this position. - Knowledge of field instruments and controls including sensors transmitters final elements process control systems communication protocols and writing methods. - Ability to specify purchase install commission and troubleshoot field instrumentation - Ability to design control loops; including selection and sizing of flowmeters control valves and other field instrumentation. - Able to read understand and develop drawings including schematics and connection diagrams - Ability to develop design standards procedures and training materials. - Must come from Petro Chemical (continuous) or Petroleum Refining Industry - Minimum of five (5) years experience in industrial instrumentation systems design. - Experience with design and installation of analyzers and their sample systems. - Understanding of refinery/chemical processes and equipment and the interaction between refinery units. - Experience with turnaround planning and capital project work. - Experience with instrument design database software is highly desirable. - Ability to lead and manage overall design and construction of projects including management of project team to best utilize labor. - Ability to use estimating tools and cost control measures to budget and monitor approved funds. - Able to monitor projects and workloads to meet deadlines and schedules.
