Manage supplier relationships and developing strategies across specific commodities ( Carbon Steel Stampings tubing and powdered metal parts) to achieve the best value for the company This person will lead cross functional commodity teams to implement strategies and will also provide guidance to commodity buyers.
• Manage commodity savings and strategies for areas of responsibility • Drive activity to identify and source low cost country suppliers • Prepare present and negotiate proposals and long term commercial agreements • Drive improvement in BOS metrics (quality delivery service and cost) for specific commodities • Champion cross functional VA/VE and TVM activity with suppliers • Ensure department and suppliers comply with GSCM policies and procedures • Negotiate regional and global contracts • Provide day to day coaching support to other buyers on tactical and strategic issues.
Requirements: • Bachelors degree in business or technical discipline (MBA preferred) • Minimum 5-7 years experience in Supply Chain Management or related experience automotive industry strongly preferred (especially supply base vs. OE) • Strong leader of cross-functional teams • Corporate SCM experience with international business desired (LCC required.) • Advanced PC skills (spreadsheets etc.) required • Strong verbal and written communication skills • Excellent negotiation skills and proven success working under pressure driving projects to closure. Ability to travel is required • Familiarity with drawings specifications materials and manufacturing processes
