The Laboratory Director reports to the designated Administrative Director of Hospital Services, and is responsible for directing the 24-hour operations and activities of the clinical laboratory.
Direct and organize hospital the operations rapid-response laboratories through the appropriate delegation of responsibilities and authority and overall direction of the hospital laboratory management team. Supervise specimen collection specimen management technical and clerical areas.
1. Provide direction to department personnel to achieve operational and technical objectives including workflow design service quality financials personnel management and integration of intra and inter-departmental activities. 2. Effectively communicates with Hospital System personnel at all levels to coordinate efforts meet special needs and address problems or concerns. 3. Works with Hospital System management team to maintain regular two-way communications and integration of core laboratory and hospital personnel. 4. Effectively works with all levels of laboratory and hospital management and employees to ensure a service delivery system which sets standards of excellence in terms of quality response time and overall user satisfaction. 5. Meet regularly with appropriate counterparts to ensure effective inter-departmental interfaces are established maintained and enhanced. 6. Continually monitors and stays abreast of legislative and regulatory changes affecting the laboratory industry and ensures changes are accurately communicated to affected departments and implemented on a timely basis. 7. Investigates recommends and purchases equipment supplies and instrumentation appropriate to current and planned future needs.
Requirements: 8 years of clinical laboratory experience 5 years of supervisor level experience. Certified MT or CLS by ASCP NCA or equivalent. Must have FL state supervisor license or willingness and eligibility to obtain.
